Hi, I’m ivey jowers, LPC, RN, NCC

Every thread in your tapestry tells your story. Some threads represent moments that bring you great pride and joy. Others may be symbols of great pain and hurt. Individually, threads are just threads - a part of something bigger. But when woven together your tapestry reveals something beautiful and unique.

When life brings us challenges, it can be easy to focus only on the threads that hurt, that disappoint, that represent everything that feels wrong. As a psychotherapist using a strengths-based approach, my goal is to help you honor your journey thus far by gaining a greater sense of meaning and understanding while leaning into self-compassion. I also hope to empower you to take hold of your shuttle (the tool that weaves the thread into your tapestry) and move forward weaving a tapestry that feels more authentic, balanced, and reflective of where you want to go. Life will continue to present challenges and still, I firmly believe you, the artist within, have the power to create something breathtaking.

My Approach

I (she/her) believe in caring for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – and is excited to bring my love of art, nursing and mental health to Woven Threads Holistic Counseling in order to develop creative and individualized treatment strategies to help meet the needs of people of all ages.

Having worked for over 16 years in healthcare, I have gained greater interest in meeting the mental health needs of individuals struggling with any aspect of their lives that feels scary, uncertain, unsettling or distressing. I hold firm to the belief that individuals are neither sick nor well, broken nor whole, but somewhere on the continuum. Therefore, with the help of psychotherapy, individuals at any moment have the potential to improve their degree of wellness.

I seek to support clients as they navigate challenging relationships and situations; work to improve communication skills; enhance their sense of self-love and self-worth; implement mindfulness and grounding practices into everyday life; and learn distress tolerance and emotion regulation coping strategies. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist. I welcome you to come just as you are.
